Vroman's, the oldest independent bookstore in Southern California
1894
Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, California
Adam Clark Vroman opened a book and photographic supply shop on Colorado Street in November 1894, raising the money by selling off his own library after his wife died. He spent the following decade photographing Hopi, Navajo, Apache and Pueblo communities across the Southwest and helped found the Southwest Museum. The store is still trading and runs several hundred free events a year.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
