Voyageurs, a park you need a boat to enter
1975
International Falls, Minnesota
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Forty percent water, with four big lakes and hundreds of islands, and no road reaches most of it, visitors arrive by boat and in winter drive across the ice road. It is named for the French-Canadian canoemen who hauled furs through here, and it is among the darkest skies in the eastern half of the country.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
