Vince's Bridge is burned before San Jacinto
1836
Vince Bayou, Pasadena, Texas
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Sam Houston learned on the morning of April 21, 1836 that several hundred Mexican reinforcements had reached Santa Anna, and sent Erastus Deaf Smith and six other men to destroy the plank bridge Allen Vince had built over this bayou. Burning it closed the road Santa Anna's column would have used to retreat or be reinforced. The battle fought that afternoon at San Jacinto lasted eighteen minutes, and Santa Anna was taken the next day.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
