Union Station and the copper dome that became a federal courthouse
1911
Tacoma, Washington
Steve Morgan · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
The station opened in 1911 under a copper dome that is still the marker for the south end of downtown. Passenger trains stopped calling and the building sat empty before it was restored as a courthouse for the federal Western District of Washington. The rotunda now holds a permanent installation of Dale Chihuly glass, hung where the waiting room used to be.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
