Town East Mall opens and drags the east side's retail out to the loop
1971
Mesquite, Texas
Town East opened on 6 October 1971 where Interstate 635 meets the highway running east out of Dallas, and it took the trade Big Town Mall had held a few miles closer in. Three levels and roughly 1.2 million square feet make it the retail anchor for the eastern half of the metroplex. Dillard's, Macy's, JCPenney and Dick's Sporting Goods hold the corners.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
