Tillamook and the co-operative creameries
1909
Tillamook, Oregon

A valley of rain and grass where dairying beat everything else, and where a dozen small creameries agreed to pool grading, branding and selling rather than undercut each other. The co-operative is still farmer-owned a century later and the cheese factory is one of the most visited places in the state, which says something about the Oregon coast in winter.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
