Thunderbird Field opened in 1941 to run contract primary flight training for Allied pilots, and the actor James Stewart was among the people who put it together before the United States entered the war. It was renamed Thunderbird Field No. 1 in June 1942 once a second field opened near Scottsdale. After the war the government sold the property for educational use and it became the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
