Behind a church on 96th Street lies the burial ground of two of the Dutch farming families who worked this corner of Long Island long before it was part of New York City. The markers run from 1793 to 1892 and cover about 136 graves of Wyckoffs, Snedikers and their neighbours. The farms became streets and rowhouses around it and the plot simply stayed. It joined the National Register in 2001.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
