Bloomington Cemetery, pioneer and Dakota graves

Opened in 1856 as the burial ground of the First Presbyterian Church of Oak Grove, it holds both settler and Dakota burials from the years when the two lived alongside each other on the Minnesota River. Gideon Pond, who ran the Oak Grove mission a mile away, is buried here. An 1890 soldiers' monument marks the point where a frontier township began sending men to national wars.
