The World's Fair time capsules, sealed until the year 6939

Westinghouse lowered an 800 pound copper alloy tube fifty feet into the fairground at noon on the 1938 equinox, packed with seeds in sealed vials, a Kewpie doll, a dollar bill, Camel cigarettes and reels of microfilm, to be dug up in five thousand years. A second capsule went down beside it after the 1964 fair. Three thousand copies of a Book of Record went to libraries around the world explaining where the capsules are and how to read English when the time comes. A seven-ton granite marker sits over the spot.
