The William Ulmer Brewery, last of Bushwick's brewers' row
1872
Beaver Street, Bushwick
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Bushwick held around a dozen breweries run largely by German immigrants, and this complex is the most complete one left standing. Ulmer built it in 1872. The neighbourhood's brewing trade did not survive Prohibition and the consolidation that followed.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
