Pittsburgh's beer for a century and a half, brewed through Prohibition on 'near beer' that often left the plant rather nearer than legal. Iron City introduced the snap-top can with Alcoa in 1962, the first beer opened without a church key. The Lawrenceville brewery complex still anchors its neighbourhood.
