The Wave Organ plays the tide
1986
Marina jetty, San Francisco
Frank Schulenburg · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
A jetty built out of granite salvaged from a demolished cemetery, with twenty-five pipes let into it at different depths. The bay pushes air up them and the stones make a low irregular noise that is best at high tide and, on a calm day, almost nothing. It was built by the Exploratorium as an instrument that nobody plays.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
