A natural sinkhole in the Black Hills foothills that Plains nations used for three centuries as a bison trap, driving herds over the hidden lip. The bottom holds the bones of some twenty thousand animals in layers, one of the richest archaeological larders on the northern plains, found by accident when Interstate 90's engineers drilled the site. A ranch family gave it to science. Digs run in public view each summer.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
