The Vicary house, built by a War of 1812 sea captain
1826

Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
William Vicary made his money sailing out of Philadelphia to Lisbon, Canton and Batavia, and took four British ships during the War of 1812. In 1826 he bought a thousand acres on the Ohio and began this three storey house of dressed stone quarried on his own land and hauled by horse sledge. It took seven years and one sacked contractor, and it still stands on Freedom's main street.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
