John A. Miller designed the coaster and it opened in 1924 under the name Pippin. Andy Vettel was hired to renovate and extend the layout, and it reopened as the Thunderbolt in 1968 using the ravine at the back of the park for its drops. It still ranks among the top fifty wooden coasters in the world in the annual Golden Ticket Awards.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
