The Raymond Hotel burns, is rebuilt, then razed
1886
Raymond Hill, South Pasadena, California
Walter Raymond of a Boston travel agency opened the first big resort hotel in the San Gabriel Valley on this hill in 1886, and the hill took his name from it. Wealthy easterners wintered there until the wooden building burned to the ground in 1895. A second and more fireproof hotel opened in 1901, was foreclosed after the Depression, and was torn down.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
