The Pardee Home, a state senator's house that a governor inherited

State Senator Enoch Pardee built this Italianate house in 1868, and his son George, who went on to be governor of California, took it over after his father died. Three generations of the family lived here and almost nothing was cleared out, so the museum it became shows a century of one household's accumulated stuff rather than a staged period room. It is a city landmark, a California Historical Landmark and on the National Register.
