The Opa-locka bank that never opened as a bank
1926
Opa-locka, Florida

The building at 940 Caliph Street was finished late in 1926 with a vault inside and Egyptian Revival detail outside, and then the Florida land boom collapsed before any bank opened in it. Locals took to calling it the bank that never was. A Baptist congregation later took the building over, and it went on the National Register in 1983.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
