The Odd Fellows Hall that George Seaton built

The Black Odd Fellows were one of the few organisations where Alexandria's African American residents could meet, run their own affairs and pool money. In 1870 they hired George Seaton, a Black builder who also served in the Virginia legislature, to enlarge their 1864 hall to two and a half storeys. It held their meetings and the community's gatherings for decades and was turned into condominiums in the 1980s.
