The Oak Park Arms, a 1922 residence hotel that became a retirement home
1922
408 South Oak Park Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois
The Oak Park Arms opened in April 1922 as a five-story residence hotel, with full apartments, kitchens and dining rooms rented to people who wanted to live in the suburb without keeping a house. It hosted the village's society weddings and put up guests as prominent as Eleanor Roosevelt. In the mid-1970s new owners turned it into a retirement community, and it still runs as one at the same address.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
