The apple came up as a chance seedling on the Moore family farm in the village of Newtown, in the blocks around this corner, in the early 1700s. Benjamin Franklin had two barrels sent to him in London in 1759, the first American apples to cross the Atlantic, and Jefferson later planted four dozen trees at Monticello. Newtown renamed itself Elmhurst in 1896.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
