The Museum of Science sits on the dam that made the basin
1951
Cambridge, Massachusetts
The museum straddles the old Charles River Dam, so the building has one foot in Boston and one in Cambridge and the city line runs through it. Its ancestor was the Boston Society of Natural History, founded in 1830. The modern museum took this site after the Second World War and opened here in 1951. It runs a planetarium and the only domed IMAX screen in New England.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
