The Michigan Theater still plays its 1927 Barton organ

Maurice Finkel of Detroit designed this 1,610 seat movie palace for Angelo Poulos, and it opened in 1927 with a Barton theatre pipe organ installed for accompanying silent film. The organ, the orchestra pit and the stage are all still there and still used, which is rare: most surviving palaces lost their organs long ago. The Butterfield chain leased it until 1978, and the non-profit Marquee Arts now runs it along with the State Theater down the street.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
