The theatre at the heart of Russell, the Black neighbourhood the city called its Harlem, where the touring circuit stopped, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, the young Louisvillians who left to make their names elsewhere. Urban renewal took most of the district around it. The theatre was boarded for decades, then restored, one of the few pieces of that world left standing to show what had been there.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
