The Kempf House, built as a home in 1853 and kept as a museum

Henry Bennett put this house up on South Division Street in 1853 as a single family home, and it later took the name of Reuben Kempf, the music teacher whose family lived in it. It was listed on the national register in 1973 and is open as a museum rather than lived in. Most of Ann Arbor's houses of that decade were pulled down as the campus expanded east.
