An expansion team eight years old won the Stanley Cup and then won it again the next spring, and the next, and the next, nineteen straight playoff series over four years, a record no team in the four major leagues has touched since. The barn they did it in was a plain concrete box off the Meadowbrook Parkway, and the suburb has never quite gotten over it.
