The Hutchinson River, named for the woman Massachusetts banished
1643
Hutchinson River, Bronx, New York

Anne Hutchinson was tried and thrown out of Massachusetts Bay for holding religious meetings in her own house and teaching that salvation did not run through the ministers. She went to Rhode Island, then in 1642 to Dutch territory beside this river, and she and most of her household were killed in a Siwanoy raid the following year. The river, the parkway beside it and the parkway's bridge all carry her name.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
