1919
San Marino, California
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
A railway magnate's estate holding a Gutenberg Bible, the Ellesmere Chaucer and Blue Boy, surrounded by 120 acres of gardens including a desert garden of ten thousand succulents. Huntington married his uncle's widow, which was considered a great deal at the time.
