Aurora, Colorado

Thomas Gully left Ireland for the Colorado Territory in 1862 meaning to work the mines, then gave that up for farming within a year. He and his wife Temperance settled along Toll Gate Creek, where the kitchen dates to about 1866 and the main house to 1870, making it the oldest home in what became Aurora. Their descendants ran it as a ranch into the 1950s, and along the way the house served the surrounding farms as a community hall and a polling place.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
