The Glen Rock, a 570 ton boulder a glacier left behind
1894

The rock sitting in the road here weighs about 570 tons and is the largest glacial erratic resting on Triassic bedrock anywhere in New Jersey. Ice carried it south and dropped it in what was then the bed of a glacial lake, and geologists trace the gneiss to the Hudson Highlands or the New Jersey Highlands. The Lenape called it Pamackapuka and used it as a trail marker. When Bergen County split into twenty six new boroughs in 1894, the one that formed around this stone took its name.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
