The Glebe House and its octagon wing
1857
Arlington, Virginia
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
A glebe was farmland set aside to support a parish priest, and before the Revolution the Church of England ran a 500 acre glebe here for the rector of Fairfax Parish, which took in both Christ Church in Alexandria and the Falls Church. The house standing on the site went up between 1854 and 1857 with an unusual octagon-shaped wing. A conservation easement now protects it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
