The Gary Land Company Building, the first building in Gary
1906
Gary, Indiana
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
US Steel's real estate arm put up this balloon frame office in 1906 to sell lots in the city it was inventing, which makes it the first building in Gary. It measures about twenty feet by forty and has served in turn as city hall, post office, school and shop. It was converted to a house in 1909, moved to its present site in 1956, and now runs as a museum.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
