The Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research, one of the largest film archives in the world, sits inside the Wisconsin Historical Society building at the top of State Street, and most people walking past have no idea. It holds around twenty thousand films and tapes across three hundred collections: 16mm reference prints of nearly every Warner Brothers, RKO and Monogram feature released between 1931 and 1949, fifteen hundred Vitaphone shorts, three hundred Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, Soviet features, Taiwanese features.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
