A starch company hired George Halas to run its works team and play in the new professional league, which was founded that autumn in a Canton car showroom. The Staleys won the title in 1921, the company handed Halas the team and five thousand dollars to keep the name a year, and he moved it to Chicago and renamed it after the Cubs' bigger cousins.
