The day Lake Delton emptied
2008
Lake Delton, Sauk County, Wisconsin
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
After days of rain on 9 June 2008 the artificial lake at the heart of the Dells resort strip cut itself a new channel to the Wisconsin River, took four houses and a stretch of county road with it, and drained. Two hundred and sixty-seven acres of water were gone in hours, in the first week of the tourist season, leaving boats and docks sitting on mud. They rebuilt the bank and refilled it the following year.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
