The Corder Building, an English cottage on a downtown block
1900
Berkeley, California
Sanfranman59 · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
This brick commercial building went up in downtown Berkeley in 1900 with an English cottage roofline, an odd note among the flat fronted storefronts around it. It was designed by James W. Plachek, who went on to do the Berkeley Public Library, the UC Theatre and a run of civic buildings across the city. The upper floors are apartments now and the ground floor a pharmacy.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
