A lumber baron kept a hundred mill hands busy through a slack winter by having them build him a house, using redwood, white mahogany from Central America and onyx from Mexico. The result is a Queen Anne of such density of turrets, gables and spindlework that it is routinely called the most photographed Victorian house in America. It has been a private club since 1950 and the public has never been let in.
