The Capital Centre and the first replay screen hung over a court
1973
Landover, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Abe Pollin put up eighteen million dollars and opened this arena on 2 December 1973 to house his Bullets and Capitals out in the Maryland suburbs rather than in Washington. Its centre hung scoreboard carried a video replay screen called the Telscreen, the first in any indoor arena and years ahead of the big screens at ballparks. It also opened with luxury boxes. It closed in March 2002 and came down that December.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
