The Burbank Western Channel, the creek the Valley poured concrete over
1991
Burbank, California
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
This is 6.3 miles of flood control channel running from Sun Valley down beside Interstate 5, through downtown Burbank, and into the Los Angeles River by the equestrian centre. It is a real tributary, encased end to end so the studios and the aircraft plants could build on the flood plain. In 1991 the EPA sued Burbank over companies discharging into it above their permitted limits. The bike path that now follows it is one of the few places to see the Valley's water at all.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
