Gary Oelze opened the place in 1966 to serve food and it became one of the country's serious rooms for bluegrass, folk, country, blues and jazz. The main hall seats 500 at tables that run right up to the stage, and dinner is served during the show. Musicians talk about it as a listening room, which is a polite way of saying the audience is expected to shut up.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
