Shea opened in 1964 beside the World's Fair grounds as home to the Mets and the Jets. On August 15, 1965 the Beatles played there to about 55,600 people, the largest crowd a concert had drawn anywhere, running their guitars through the ballpark's own address system while the screaming buried the music. Promoters drew the obvious conclusion and rock moved permanently into stadiums. Shea came down in 2009 after Citi Field opened next door.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
