The Atlantic City Boardwalk

The first boardwalk in the world, laid down so bathers would stop tracking sand into the hotels and railcars, and it turned a sandbar into the country's playground, piers out over the water, rolling chairs, the first Ferris wheel after Chicago. Saltwater taffy took its name here, by one story from a flooded stand whose owner called his soaked stock the name as a joke to a girl.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
