The Aroostook War, in which nobody fired

The United States and Britain mobilized tens of thousands of troops in 1839 over where Maine ended and New Brunswick began, a dispute prosecuted mostly by rival lumber crews arresting each other in the snow. Nobody was killed in combat. A diplomat drew the line in 1842 and both sides went home. The cedar blockhouse built for the war still stands at Fort Kent, a national landmark to the best war anybody ever declined to fight.
