Fifteen hundred miles cut through muskeg and mountain in eight months after Pearl Harbor. A third of the soldiers who built it were Black, in segregated regiments given the worst equipment and sectors, and their part was left out of the official histories for fifty years.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
