Tempe city hall is an upside down pyramid that shades itself

Michael Goodwin, Kemper Goodwin and Rolf Osland designed a city hall that gets wider as it rises, so every floor throws shade on the one below it. The point was cooling: in a town where summer runs past 110 degrees, the building shades its own glass. It was finished in 1971 and sits at 45 degrees to the surrounding streets to catch winter sun and dodge summer sun.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
