Sun Silo, the steel tower at Lowry that prints the sun on the ground

Patrick Marold's sculpture went up in 2018 in Community Park, on the old Lowry air base land at East Lowry Boulevard and Pontiac Street. It is a multi storey cylinder stacked from steel rings with a bronze coloured patina, cut with concave sections that let daylight through. The gaps throw a pattern of light onto the paving at the base that moves as the sun crosses.
