Swissvale, the end of the country's busiest busway
2003
Swissvale, Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh built a road that only buses may use, laid in the old Pennsylvania Railroad corridor, and opened the first 6.8 miles from downtown to Wilkinsburg in March 1983 at a cost of $115 million. It was named for Martin Luther King Jr. Because it serves East Liberty, Homewood and Wilkinsburg. A 2.3 mile extension in 2003 carried it out to this park and ride in Swissvale, where it stops. Allegheny County now has about 19 miles of grade-separated busway, more than anywhere else in the United States.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
