Storkline's factory made the country's cribs at 26th and Kostner

The company started in 1915 as the Glass Novelty Company, then renamed itself after its best selling product and put up this brick plant in 1925. Every crib, baby carriage and school desk Storkline sold came out of this one building, going to more than six thousand retailers around the country, and from the 1920s to the mid 1960s it was one of the largest makers of children's furniture in America. Chicago architect Sidney Minchin gave a juvenile furniture factory Sullivanesque terra cotta trim on the street front. The building was listed on the National Register in 2013 and rebuilt as rental apartments for families.
