Spiral Jetty, basalt coiled into a salt lake
1970
Rozel Point, Great Salt Lake
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Robert Smithson built a 1,500-foot coil of black basalt into pink salt water beside an abandoned oil jetty. It vanished underwater for thirty years and reappeared in 2002 encrusted white. The lake's decline has now left it far inland.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
